- Sometimes it is very hard to find good acquaintances, e.g. people who help the weak and the needy, people who make others happy when they are sad, good Muslims who remind others to perform Salah. These Muslims make others become stronger in Iman. They encourage Muslims to be respectful to parents, and to be a role model.
- Many Muslims have these qualities. The most important thing to remember is that a good acquaintance tries hard not to commit sins. Those kinds of people are the best although they may not be as popular as others. They should be treated with the utmost respect.
- Muslims should try to have the qualities mentioned above. If they encourage others to do good deeds, they will the greatly rewarded.
Prophet Muhammad mentioned the benefits of helping others in the following hadeeth that has been narrated by Aboo Hurayrah (Note: The word ‘brother’ used in the hadeeth also refers to ‘sister’):
قال رسول الله : ((من نفس عنْ مُؤْمِن كُرَبةَ مِنْ كُربِ الدُّنْيَا، نَفَس اللهُ عَنْهُ كَرَبةَ مِنْ كرب يوم القيامة ومن يسر على معسر يسر الله عليه في الدنيا والآخرة، ومن ستر مسلماً ، ستره الله في الدنيا والآخرة، والله في عون العبد ما كان العبد في عون أخيه )). ( مسلم )
The Messenger ﷺ of Allah ﷻ said, “He who relieves the suffering of a brother from the afflictions of the world, Allah ﷻ will relieve his afflictions from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection.
He who finds relief for one who is hard-pressed, Allah ﷻ will make things easy for him in the Hereafter. And he who conceals [the faults] of a Muslim, Allah ﷻ will conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter. Allah ﷻ assists His slave [worshipper] as long as the slave [worshipper] assists his brother.” (Muslim)
- This hadeeth explains that if Muslims help a person, then Allah ﷻ will help them in this life and on the Day of Judgment. Muslims should remember this all the time. If someone falls over, try to help him up. If two people are arguing, ask them to stop. If Muslims do these things, then Allah ﷻ will help them, and nothing is better than the Help of Allah ﷻ .
What we learn from the lesson:
- Muslims should treat good acquaintances with respect.
- If Muslims make it easy for a believer, Allah ﷻ will make things easy for them in this life and in the Hereafter.
