- Fajr is the first prayer of the day, that Muslims perform.
- Fajr is from the time of the true dawn until just before the sun rises.
- As the last portion of the night arrives, fine streaks of light and brightness appear on the horizon. These fine streaks of light appear before the true dawn.
- True dawn is when light spreads in the horizon while the fake dawn is when fine streaks of light spread vertically from the horizon up into the night sky.
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Whoever catches one rak’ah of Fajr prayer before sunrise, has caught the Fajr prayer.” (Al-Bukhaari)
- Prophet Muhammad ﷺ offered the Fajr prayer when it was still dark. (Bukhaari and Muslim)
- The Prophet ﷺ prayed Fajr at a time when people could not recognize each other. [Muslim] This shows that it is dark at the time of Fajr, and the Prophet ﷺ said that one of the best actions is to pray early. (Al- Bukhaari)
- Muslims do not pray at sunrise.
