- ‘Asr is the middle prayer of the day and is performed in the mid-afternoon.
- ‘Asr can be performed from the time when the shadow of an object is equal to its height, until just before the sun sets.
- It is undesirable to pray ‘Asr when the sun is a yellow color, which is just before sunset.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The time of ‘Asr is until the sunlight becomes yellow.” (Muslim)
- Aboo Barza Al-Aslami narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would offer the ‘Asr prayer and after the prayer one of us would return to his house in the farthest end of Madeenah, and arrive when the sun was still hot and bright. (Al-Bukhaari and Muslim)
- ‘Asr should not be delayed until just before sunset.
