- Muslims should have good manners based on what Allah ﷻ and Muhammad ﷺ have mentioned. They should develop qualities which create good manners. Some of those qualities are:
- Truthfulness.
- Trustworthiness.
- Modesty (hayaa).
- Bravery.
- Generosity.
- Keeping promises.
- Staying away from the things that Allah ﷻ warned Muslims about.
- Being good to neighbors
- Helping those in need as much as possible
- Muslims should be truthful when they buy, sell, talk, and make promises. Muslims must train themselves to be truthful because this will protect them. They should be brave and noble and speak the truth without fearing anyone.
- Muslims must be modest because it protects them from doing bad things. The Messenger of Allah ﷻ said,
“Modesty is all good.” (Muslim)
- Muslims should be kind and generous. Allah ﷻ gives glad tidings to those who are generous. Ibn ‘Abbaas said that the Messenger of Allah was the most generous of people. Generosity can be in the form of giving food, money, doing hard work and trying your best to help others.
- The Messenger of Allah ﷻ said,
“Allah helps a Muslim as long as he helps a brother/sister.” (Muslim)
- Whenever any of Allah’s ﷻ creation needs help, a Muslim should be there. When anyone needs help, Muslims should help as long as this is not against any of the principles of Islam.

The Benefits of Having Good Manners
Why should Muslims always have good manners?
- There are many benefits for Muslims who have good manners and a good character.
- Allah ﷻ loves Muslims who have good manners.
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“The most beloved of Allah’s ﷻ worshippers are the ones with the best manners.” (At-Tabaraani)
- Good manners can help a Muslim enter Paradise.
The Prophet ﷺ said
“I guarantee a house in the highest part of Paradise for the one who has good manners.” (Aboo Daawood)
- Good manners can also help a Muslim gain Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ love and companionship on the Last Day. He said,
“The most beloved of you to me and the ones that will sit close to me on the Day of Judgment, are those of you who have the best manners.” (Tirmidhi)
- Good manners will weigh very heavily on the Scale of a Muslim’s actions. The Prophet ﷺ said,
“There is nothing heavier on the Scale than good manners.” (Aboo Daawood)
The Messenger of Allah ﷻ said,
“Good manners and being good to neighbors bring life to homes and make life long.” (Ahmad)
