- Aboo Bakr was called ‘Abdul Ka’bah before Islam. The Prophet ﷺ called him Abdullaah after he accepted Islam. Aboo Bakr was also known as As-Siddeeq.
- Even before Aboo Bakr accepted Islam, he was known for his good ways. He was wise, and people asked for his advice on important matters. Aboo Bakr was also a successful merchant.
- He always dealt fairly with others in his business. As a young man, Aboo Bakr did not take part in the wrong actions that others did.
- Aboo Bakr accepted Islam in the very beginning. He was on a journey doing business in Yemen when some of the leaders of Quraysh came to him. They told him that Muhammad ﷺ had declared himself a Prophet. They were waiting for Aboo Bakr to return so that they could stop Muhammad ﷺ .
- Aboo Bakr did not plan to stop Allah’s Messenger ﷺ and rushed back to Makkah. He went to see the Prophet ﷺ immediately, and asked him about the Message. The Prophet ﷺ explained Islam to him, and Aboo Bakr accepted Islam instantly.
- The Prophet ﷺ said that Aboo Bakr was the only person who accepted Islam without doubting, questioning or arguing. Aboo Bakr became a believer and remained steadfast. He was the first free male to embrace Islam.

Aboo Bakr’s Companionship to the Prophets ﷺ
- Aboo Bakr lived in the same neighborhood as the Prophet ﷺ .The Prophet ﷺ and Aboo Bakr became very close friends. They were about the same age and had similar likes and dislikes.
- After accepting Islam, Aboo Bakr stayed by the Prophet’s ﷺ side. He never left the Prophet’s ﷺ company except with his permission. Aboo Bakr stood by the Prophet ﷺ as a means of support and as an assistant. He was granted the honor of accompanying the Messenger of Allah when he migrated to Madeenah.
- The Prophet’s ﷺ welfare was more important to Aboo Bakr than his own. On one occasion he and the Prophet ﷺ were beaten by the disbelievers. He fell unconscious and when he awoke, he asked about the Prophet’s welfare. He was not concerned about his own condition.
- After accepting Islam, Aboo Bakr assisted the Prophet ﷺ in every way possible. He helped the Messenger of Allah to invite people and spread the Message of Islam. Many people became Muslims at his hands.
- On many occasions when Muslims needed some help the Prophet ﷺ would often ask his Companions for assistance. Aboo Bakr was always ready to spend of his own wealth to assist the Prophet ﷺ and the religion. At the battle of Tabook, he gave all his wealth in support of Islam. He also spent much of his wealth freeing slaves who had embraced Islam.
- Aboo Bakr was very close to Allah’s Messenger. The Prophet ﷺ appointed him as his representative at times. In the year 9 AH, when the Prophet ﷺ could not accompany the Companions for Hajj, Aboo Bakr was appointed as the leader of Hajj. When the Prophet fell ill Aboo Bakr was instructed by the Prophet ﷺ to lead the prayer on his behalf.
